Mogotel Hotel Group Opens the First Mövenpick-Branded Hotel in Budapest!
Until now, the company managed a Novotel-branded hotel in Budapest, which underwent a gradual renovation, including refurbished rooms, updated design and furniture, as well as improved interiors in public areas and the bar. In April 2025, the hotel was rebranded as Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre – a luxurious six-story Art Nouveau-style hotel located in the heart of Budapest, becoming the first Mövenpick premium-branded hotel in the Hungarian capital.
“With great joy and pride, I announce the opening of our fully renovated hotel under the Mövenpick brand! This significant step is the result of more than three years of dedicated work, passion, and a clear vision. Restoring this historic building and breathing new life into it has been an exciting and rewarding process. We are delighted to welcome guests to a space where historical heritage, modern comfort, and a fresh brand identity are harmoniously combined,” said Jelena Stirna, Chief Executive Officer of Mogotel Hotel Group.
Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre is located in the city’s oldest hotel building – the former Palace Hotel – designed in 1911 by renowned architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab. Today, the hotel offers 227 renovated and comfortable standard and Deluxe rooms, blending elegance, modern design, and the distinctive cultural charm of Budapest. Guests have access to seven fully equipped conference rooms with a total capacity of up to 300 participants, making it an ideal venue for business conferences, corporate meetings, and special events.
Founded in 1948, the Swiss brand Mövenpick has become synonymous with Swiss hospitality and is renowned worldwide for its refined culinary traditions and exceptional craftsmanship. Guests can enjoy these qualities at the hotel’s Palace Restaurant, which offers seasonal local dishes and Swiss chocolate desserts. Every day in the hotel lobby, the Mövenpick “Chocolate Hour” takes place – a ceremony during which guests are treated to exquisite Mövenpick chocolate delicacies and homemade sweets. This tradition enhances the hotel’s cozy ambiance and allows guests to experience the brand’s unique culture.
“This project is yet another brilliant example of the successful cooperation between Accor and Mogotel Hotel Group. The opening of this hotel not only expands our presence in Central Europe but also strengthens our position in the premium hospitality segment in Budapest – one of the region’s most important cultural and business hubs. We are proud to be part of the revival of this historic landmark, offering guests exceptional comfort, high-quality service, and an authentic experience in the heart of this unique city,” said Vadim Muhin, Chairperson of the Council at Mogotel Hotel Group.
